Fitzroy Island Resort Re-Opens

Fitzroy Island Resort is back up and running after recent Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasi passed through the Far North.
The Resort team lead by resort owner; Doug Gamble remained on the Island throughout the storm and has quickly cleared away fallen trees and debris left by high winds.

Power supply, water, phones and communication remained fully functional throughout the storm.

The resort sustained minimal damage with only gardens and some shoreline areas being affected. The Island team have been able to get everything up and running very quickly.

The Jetty, esplanade and beaches are now fully accessible with the Resort and all accommodation now back to full service. Late yesterday the final clearing of trees and debris on the National Park tracks was completed. The lighthouse and Nudey Beach access tracks are now fully open.
Newly opened Beach Bar  “Foxys” was serving cold beer last night for the hard working team on the island.  

Ferry services to the island are back to normal with 60 guests arriving today for the weekend.

This Saturday’s Flood Appeal Concert featuring ARIA band “Mental As Anything” has had to be postponed and will be set for another date soon.
