The Great Barrier Reef is immense. From altitude the colours of the Great Barrier Reef are amazing. Each reef in the 2500 km stretch of reef known as The Barrier Reef is different in shape size and colour.

A scenic flight over The Great Barrier Reef in a high wing air craft is the only way to gain a full appreciation of the size of the worlds largest living structure.

All passengers on the Great Barrier Reef Scenic Flights have a window seat for excellent viewing and head sets to listen to the commentary by the pilot.

The highlight of this scenic flight is a 20 minute window where you will fly very low to spot Dugong, Manta Rays, large Green Turtles and at certain times of the year Huge Hump Back Whales.

Some of the reefs you will fly over with Daintree Air Services include the following:

Batt Reef
One of the biggest reefs in the system

Arlington Reef
The closest reef to Cairns approximately 12 nautical miles long

Michaelmas Reef
Home to hundreds of migratory birds and is approximately 6 nautical miles long.

Upolu Reef & Oyster Reef
Both are sand cays which are exposed out of the surrounding Ocean all year round even at high tide. These sand cays are the same as the cays found further north where the large Green Turtles lay their eggs.

The Outer Reef
A 2,500km line in the ocean stretching from New Guinea in the North all the way to the South East corner of Queensland.

The flight path returns to Cairns along the coastline from Port Douglas, where you can view the picturesque mountains and northern beaches.

Departures are at 9:30am, 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm and are coincided with low tides so you see the very best of the Reef.
