Up to this level your diver training has focused on preventing problems and handling problems you might experience yourself. The next stage is broadening your perspective and considering the needs of other divers - that's what the Deep Sea Divers Den PADI Rescue Diver course is all about.
As a PADI Rescue Diver you'll learn to prevent and manage problems, sharpen your observation skills and help others avoid problems.
The PADI Rescue Diver course is divided into three sections: Knowledge development, Skill development and Practical application.
All three sections will be completed under the professional supervision and guidance of your Deep Sea Divers Den PADI instructor. All open water training takes place on the Outer Great Barrier Reef.
The duration of the PADI Rescue diver course is over five days. If you are not a holder of a valid First Aid (CPR) certification, the PADI Emergency First Response (EFR) course will commence on day one of your itinerary.
Day One covers Theory Rescue Training in one of Divers Den air conditioned classrooms.
Day Two allows for Pool and Theory Rescue Training.
The following three days are conducted at the outer reef where rescue training, scenarios and assessment will take place.
At this level of training the scenarios are made to be as realistic as possible. As such it is not possible to stick to an exact itinerary. In general you will get time for 1 or 2 pleasure dives a day, providing all other skills/scenarios have been completed successfully.
Accommodation is onboard the new OceanQuest during days three to five.
OceanQuest is a 35.7m catamaran over three decks. She has 18 twin share and 4 double rooms. All rooms have en-suite facilities, air-conditioning, as well as TV’s and intercoms. There is a large saloon area on the wheelhouse deck with a bar where you can relax and kick back after a long days diving.
Dive sites are frequented by myriad's of tropical fish and include the ever popular large Maori Wrasse, who are always diver friendly. The swim through, wall and drift dives will appeal to every level of diver experience.
